3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT: Sixth Street Band Romance series by Jayne Frost & more

The blog is 3 years old today! 🎂🎂🎂Wow, I remember when it was still a baby. It’s grown so much. In keeping with the 'three' theme, here are 3 pieces of trivia about the blog:

1. The very first post was a review of Paradise by Tess Oliver. Because I was still figuring out all the details of blogging the link says “decided to kick off this bookblog” instead of the heading, title, and author. (http://book-bosomed.blogspot.com/2014/07/decided-to-kick-off-this-bookblog-by.htmlI was going to fix it, but decided to leave it for memorabilia sake. But I digress; I still think this title is a little gem that doesn’t get enough attention so if you haven’t read it, now’s a great time to check it out. To give it the 3 Love treatment I’ll tell you that it has
1) a hot, alpha male
2) a strong, cute heroine
3) beach sex!

2. The first three titles reviewed all take place on an island, tying in with the blog’s cover image of the beach and the escape theme. (Paradise by Tess Oliver, Temp by Cambria Hebert, and Twist Me by Anna Zaires) They are all amazing reads, which I highly recommend.

3. The most popular post to date is the 2016 Valentine’s Day Love Letters which includes some of the books featured in previous weeks. Check it out HERE

I’d like to take this moment to thank everyone I’ve met and worked with over the years—the authors, the readers, everyone in the community.  Some days maintaining the blog is hard work, but at the same time the reading escapes make it all worth it.

If only there were more Mondays in the month (said no one ever) I’d give a lot more shout-outs. There are many more great books out there that I could recommend.  Make sure you checked out all the recommended reads from the previous weeks. As always, these posts were not sponsored.

Of course, it wouldn't be a party without a band. 🎸So before I start bouncing off the walls like an exuberant toddler ready to kick off a birthday celebration, check out the month's final feature. Here's 3 Things I Love About Sixth Street Band Romance series by Jayne Frost. 🎼

3. Because it’s more than sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll.
These books pack a strong romantic punch, and there’s a lot substance to the stories. It’s not about a crazy rocker lifestyle; it’s about finding the one, sweeping her off her feet, bringing out the best in her too, and making love last.
“‘Maybe the words don’t come because they don’t want to leave those beautiful lips any more than I do.’”
2. These guys have a way with words.
This rocker series isn’t just a bunch of guys in a band. Told via the hero’s point of view, these dudes are poets and lovers.
“I wondered if she smelled the same in summer, or if sunshine emanated from her pores. It was then I realized I really wanted to find out.”
1. They rock hard and they fall harder.
“I’d grown to believe she was my air. The fact I couldn’t breathe without her proved the hypothesis.”
*be still my heart* Do I even have to comment on that? I think it says it all.  Start 1-clicking while I throw my panties on the stage! 😉

REVIEW/RELEASE BLITZ: Sugar by Misti Murphy

Genre: Menage Romance

~Synopsis~

I’m just a girl, standing in front of a display case, trying to decide between chocolate and cupcakes.

Seriously decadent, panty soaking, melt in your mouth chocolate. The ultimate love drug.

Or...

The cupcake with its smooth, sweet icing, its gooey center, and cream that spurts out when you...

Wait! You thought this was actually about sweets?

Well kinda, but it’s also about men.
Two of them. Gabe and Dylan. Friends. Business partners. One charming chocolatier, one brash baker.
I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to want either of them. After all, I moved to Reverence to escape gossip and mend my broken heart.

But I do want them. Both of them. How am I supposed to choose between two hot guys who are determined to win over this quiet kindergarten teacher? Indulging my sweet tooth is out of the question. Falling off the wagon can only end in pain.

But like any addict, one taste isn’t nearly enough. Can a girl really have her cake, and fall in love with two?
~Book Review~
2.5/3 Stars

Summer Sweets, 25, is a kindergarten teacher trying to get past her recent break-up. She moves to a new town where she meets up with her older brother’s friend. Gabe Nash, 35, and Dylan O’Brien run a bakery together. They both quickly have an attraction to Summer.

The cover for this book is really well done and super hot! And the premise sounded tasty. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

I had trouble connecting with these characters. In the beginning I needed more development, both character and relationship wise. I never quite got why Summer was so special, especially to Dylan. In fact, I found myself rooting for Gabe. That shouldn’t happen in a truly romantic ménage. It shouldn’t feel like a love triangle and it did. There was just too much competition, too much of the guys contemplating her being with only one of them. Two guys working together to please a woman is hot; two guys fighting over her is just drama. There wasn’t nearly enough of the former and way too much of the later.  Ménage romance can be tricky to pull off, and it requires the trio to work together and be equals, to sell the reader on the three of them together for the long haul. For the most part, that just didn’t happen here for me. It felt like they were just sharing her instead of building a cohesive relationship with her.

Summer’s hot and cold on their threesome didn’t help matters either. She wavered too much on her commitment to the relationship, and she doubted too much. She also lacked self confidence and a backbone.  I never felt she had the brass to make their alternative lifestyle work long term.

Set in the town of Reverence, there are cameos from characters in previous stories. It was nice to see them make appearances. I wouldn’t have minded seeing more of them.

This one just didn't work for me. Ultimately, enjoyment will depend on what you are looking for in a ménage story.

Misti Murphy is a sadistic b*tch who loves to emotionally torture fictional people. If she did that in real life she’d probably end up in prison or a psych ward so she prefers to create dirty talking alphas and the sexually frustrated women who fall into their beds. And if someone needs to be smacked upside the head before f*cking turns to love then that makes her very happy indeed.

She’s a huge believer in flaws making us human, and that not everyone likes bacon. She’s also addicted to chocolate and scared of the effects of the coming shortage. She swears like a f*cking trooper, and thinks that graphic smuttiness should be as real in fiction as it is in real life.

When she’s not writing she’s the perfect housewife and mother. Ha bloody ha! When she’s not writing she’s hiding in a cupboard with her kindle, scoffing chocolate, and stalking Facebook.

3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT: Monster in His Eyes series by J.M. Darhower

One week to go before the blog turns three! 🎉 The guest list keeps growing. Have you been introduced to Annika Martin’s Kinky Bank Robbers: HERE, Jamie Schlosser’s Good Guys: HERE, and Renee Ericson’s More than Water couple: HERE?

Now the party is about to get a little dark and dangerous.  *lowers the lights.*  But to keep things kosher I’m busy making sure everything is just how my favorite badman and his woman like it.  The bacon cheeseburgers are grilling 🍔 and all the red condiment containers are filled with Heinz 57 ketchup.  Rest assured, no bottled drinks will be opened by anyone other than the person imbibing them. *double checks for bottle openers*  It’s time to play with monsters so here’s 3 things I love about J.M. Darhower’s Monster in His Eyes series! 🔫

3. Deliciously Dark
This series will tickle the fancy of readers who enjoy a little thrill, suspense, and a walk on the dark side but with the erotic romance front and center. Karissa is embroiled in so much more than she knows. Naz isn’t a good man, but he’s no player, cheater, or manwhore. His intentions are nefarious, but his feelings are authentic. The sex is edgy, but everything is consensual. Like Naz, the darkness draws you in and the passion turns you on.
“He fucks me like he means it, like he needs it, like being inside of me is more important than anything inside of him, and every cell in my body calls out to him, craving more of it.”

2.  Deviously Deep
“There’s something about you…something I’ve sought for a very long time. Something I’ve always wanted. And now that I’ve found it, I don’t know if I can let it go.”
I know exactly how Naz feels because ever since I’ve read this I’m always on the search for other stories like it.  This series and it’s characters are unique though— layered and deep, just like the quote above. And one of the things that makes it an amazing re-read is all of Naz’s double meanings. You have to read it more than once to get the full impact.
“Everything he does is for a reason. There's always method to his madness, meaning behind every word, a point to his actions. And it's usually never good.”

1. Dashingly…Naz!
“’You may growl, and hiss, and meow, and maybe sometimes you bring out those claws, but I know how to make you purr. I'm the king of the jungle. I'm the predator.’  ‘Does that make me your prey?’ He shakes his head. ‘That makes you my queen.’”
Awww! 💗  He’s the perfect dark hero, the most intriguing bad man. He’s like a fusion of corruption, decadence, integrity, and swoon-worthiness all in one hot, mature character. Naz alone is more than three reasons to read this series!

3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT: More than Water series by Renee Ericson

The countdown continues to the blog’s 3rd birthday at the end of the month.🎈🎈🎈 Did you get acquainted with the guests who have already arrived? If not, click HERE to say hi to Annika Martin’s Kinky Bank Robbers and HERE to Jamie Schlosser’s Good Guys.  It’s a fun and eclectic bunch, and this week will further add to the mix.

Speaking of mixing, after stocking up on liquor last week, I’ve filled science lab beakers with booze because the next guests to arrive just love nerdy fun.  Now, I wonder how much helium I’m going to need to fill these balloons. *Stares at periodic table* I’m so gonna lose at this drinking game. While I brush up on my chemistry, check out these 3 things I love, or in nerd speak Iodine [I] Lutetium [Lu] Vanadium [V]about Renee Ericson’s More than Water characters. 🔬

3. Because you can have science, art, hot sex, humor, opposites attract-friends to lovers romance all in one.
“Don’t underestimate the seductive power of fireworks.” 🎇
This story packs a big punch. It’s got plenty of witty banter that suits this pair well. Foster and EJ are one of my favorite new adult couples because they embrace their different personalities and interests while figuring their way through friendship, love, and their own self awareness one hot artistic or chemistry infused encounter after another.

2. Bold is Beautiful. 🎨
This heroine isn’t timid or meek. Alongside a spunky personality, EJ’s got balls and she knows how to use them. She really could start her own advice column. I bet it would go something like this:
Q. Dear EJ—What should I do about my cheating boyfriend?
A. Introduce yourself to the other woman, tell her that he’s all hers to blow, slap the cheating bastards face, and move on with a better man. Live happily ever after!
And this:
Q. Dear EJ—My new co-worker is super hot, but he doesn’t date. What should I do?
A. Ask him if he masturbates. That will break the ice!

1. Nerdy is the new sexy.  👓
Even if you are a card carrying member of the Girls Who Love Bad Boys club, you’ll still fall for Foster Blake aka Fozzie.  He’s brainy; he’s built; he’s badass in the bedroom; and he’s a real sweetheart. Yes, even this man of science has a way with words.
“You. I just want you. Anything else is without you.”

REVIEW/RELEASE BLITZ: Beautiful Beast by Aubrey Irons

Genre: Contemporary Romance

~Blurb~

Anastasia:
Here’s the first thing you should know: this is not a fairytale. Happily-ever-afters are fables, and Prince Charming is a sweet little lie. I know all this because he taught me.

Once upon a lifetime ago, the rich, arrogant, sinfully gorgeous, and tragically broken dark prince of the Hamptons was my tormentor. My darkness, my shameful attraction, my all-consuming, forbidden temptation.

I hate Sebastian Crown because nine years ago, for one night, I was stupid enough to think I loved him. And I’ve been paying for it ever since.

Except now, he needs me to help him save his empire.…And he’s not taking no for answer.

Bastian:
She’s my nemesis. My addiction. My weakness.

My obsession.

I used to tell myself I hated Anastasia Bell - for being poor, for not worshipping the ground I walked on, for looking at me like she pitied me for being me.

When the rest of my world always told me yes, she was the ever-provoking no.

She thinks I’m a monster - a tragic, fucked-up, broken beast. She doesn’t know the half of it. Because she can’t begin to know the crimes of my past, or imagine the things I’ve done to her behind the scenes since she left this place.

Years ago, I thought breaking her would fix me. I was wrong.

Now I’ve got her in my sights again, and this time, I won’t be letting her go. Even if it means we both go down in flames...

~Book Review~
5 Stars

Anastasia Bell, 27, the gardener’s daughter on an expansive Hampton’s estate, grew up with the rich and privileged kids, but she was never one of them. 9 years ago she left it all behind until she’s presently summoned back to the Crown mansion in dire straits.
“I also have no idea how I’d explain that I’m currently living in the opulent estate of an eccentric, brooding, asshole millionaire who may or may not be both the bane of my existence and also my horrible secret fantasy.”
Sebastian Crown, 27, is broken and sadistic. Troubled would be putting it mildly. Bastian has so many vices and exalts in debauchery as the sexy, spoiled rich boy looming over the mansion.
“There was no ‘raising’ Sebastian Crown. There was just damage control.”
By most accounts, Bastian shouldn’t be likable. He should be deplorable and pathetic, but just as Ana is drawn to him, even fascinated by him, I was too!
I noticed right away that the prose was well written. It flows well, the descriptions are compelling, the narration is entertaining, and the dialogue/banter fresh, at places even humorous.
“‘Why are you going out of your way to be an asshole?’
‘It’s not out of the way at all, don’t sweat it.’”
The many layers of character development and suspense plot kept me glued to the pages. A few chapters became the entire book, read in one long sitting because I couldn’t put it down! The suspense angle is well crafted. My mouth dropped in “ah” several times as I began connecting the dots. There’s even a plot trope that I’ve never much cared for, one I’ve found usually comes off hokey and actually takes away from the romance, yet it works here; it works well, adding another layer to their complicated courtship and a cuteness to their resolution.

Told via Ana and Bastian’s first person POV, the story rotates between the present and the past, providing their sorted history while advancing their love-hate relationship in the current timeline. There’s no insta-love or insta-lust here; it’s all well developed.  It’s more than a decade of fixation, animosity, depravity, and obsession with the chemistry palpable and the reader wondering both Did they? and Are they going to?
“‘I’m fairly certain my dirty mouth only makes you wetter than you’ve ever been before.’”
While Sebastian reeled me in, his boundaries seemingly limitless, I was impressed with how Ana had the brass to give right back. She held her own pretty well when considering the intimidating nature of Bastian’s character; she never had blinders on, nor was she afraid to call him out.

The story has plenty of twists and turns. And while it’s far from upbeat or light-hearted, I never felt the angst was overdone or unnecessary. Bastian has a shitstorm mess on his hands, but it didn’t feel contrived. He largely reaped what he sowed, and as a fabulous dark hero, he owned it too.

It’s a tale of redemption and finding the thing money can’t buy.  Amidst suppressed feeling and psychological torment, the duo’s sexual encounters are dirty and hot.
“‘I was talking about making you come all over my fingers and then licking it off while you tongue my balls. Who said anything about romance.’”
I’d best categorize this as a romantic suspense standalone as well as dark romance. His intentions are selfish and destructive, but there’s an undercurrent of that four letter word in the motivations.  I was pleased with the ending and how things worked out. In fact, it ties together perfectly. That’s not to say I didn’t still crave more saucy interludes with Ana and Bastian as well as more about his friends (one in particular). The four princes of South Neck could make an interesting series. While there were a few aspects not to my preferences, the well plotted, captivating tale made them easier to overlook. This is my first book by this author, but I’ll definitely be checking out her other reads.
