BLOG TOUR: Cocky F@#ker by Misti Murphy

~Synopsis~
I came home to Reverence to start over, not to cozy up to Chelsea F*cking Taylor. Again.

My brother’s ex should have been off-limits, but she wasn’t. Not when we were teens. Not when I married her. And definitely not now.

I thought after I walked away from her in Vegas we were done. I was wrong. This time my brother isn’t getting in the way of what I want. I’m going to fight for her, fight for us.

The girl f*cking loves me, she just doesn’t know it yet.

Friends, lovers, enemies, and now…

To say our relationship is complicated would be an understatement.

Damaged, demanding, a verifiable prick, Mace Hadley is my biggest mistake, but that didn’t stop the former marine from getting back into my panties the night he arrived home.

It was supposed to be one last screw you. Except he’s in my face each chance he gets, between my legs at every opportunity.

I’m not sure how long I can fight him when I still haven’t gotten over him. But I’ll go down swinging.

If I give him my heart and he leaves me behind again, it’ll break me. But that’s not the worst part.

I’m having the cocky f@#cker’s baby.

~Book Review~
4.5 Stars

Chelsea Taylor has grown up with the Hadley brothers and she’s always been close with all of them—just in different ways. Mace Hadley stepped in when his older brother stepped out, and he hasn’t been able to wrap his head around it since. But now Mace is back in town and his love-hate attraction to Chelsea has come full circle.

This third book in the Tangled Desires series overlaps the first two books in time frame. While it can be read as a standalone, its flow is a bit choppy as the events of the first two books are vaguely interspersed and passage of time can get a bit murky.

None the less, if you’ve read the previous titles, you can guess that Mace and Chelsea’s relationship is…complicated. Turns out they have ten years of attraction, animosity, misunderstandings, and burning desire.
“I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a nice bone in his body, well unless I count the one I was riding minutes ago.” –Chelsea
Told via Mace and Chelsea’s alternating first person point of view, there’s plenty of entertaining and dirty banter. This is most definitely a steamy read that’s hot right from the start.
“‘Let’s say I slipped. That I fucking slipped and landed right between your legs.’ He grasps my knees and thrusts them apart, stepping between them. Grabbing the waistband of his pants, I yank him to me. A solid wall of heat and hardness that has me moaning into his mouth. ‘You slipped and your cock just happened to land in my pussy.’”
The duo has to overcome quite a few perceived obstacles and seriously get in touch with their feelings. I’ll admit there were times when I would have liked to see more development scenes and a little less ping-pong with their relationship. But the climax definitely delivers and the reveal at the end was absolutely swoonworthy! I literally squealed in delight. You just don’t see that ‘relationship angle’ often enough in current contemporary romance.
“‘Any man who wouldn’t fight for the woman he can’t breathe without would be a fool.’” –Mace
Can Mace get past his issues with his brother? Can he come to grips with his time in the Marines? How will Chelsea and Mace handle all the elephants in the room? Can they deal with becoming parents?
“God, I hope it’s a pink one. Another girl to balance out the overdose of testosterone the Hadley men produce.” –Chelsea
As far as the characters go, I liked both Mace and Chelsea and while they had their fair share of miscommunication, I was pleased that they weren’t presented as clueless, especially Mace who had the insight to see through some of the facades. I do wish the supporting characters—the rest of the Hadley family—would been incorporated more deeply, particularly the ending where some their reactions felt scarce or forgotten. It would have made the story a bit fuller. And I’m certainly curious to learn more about Rush and hope he gets his own story where we can see more of this entertaining and colorful clan to wrap up the series.

Overall, a low angst, lighthearted, super steamy read!

Misti Murphy is a sadistic b*tch who loves to emotionally torture fictional people. If she did that in real life she’d probably end up in prison or a psych ward so she prefers to create dirty talking alphas and the sexually frustrated women who fall into their beds. And if someone needs to be smacked upside the head before f*cking turns to love then that makes her very happy indeed.
She’s a huge believer in flaws making us human, and that not everyone likes bacon. She’s also addicted to chocolate and scared of the effects of the coming shortage. She swears like a f*cking trooper, and thinks that graphic smuttiness should be as real in fiction as it is in real life.
When she’s not writing she’s the perfect housewife and mother. Ha bloody ha! When she’s not writing she’s hiding in a cupboard with her kindle, scoffing chocolate, and stalking facebook.
