BLOG TOUR: Floored by Melanie Harlow

Genre:   NA, Contemporary Romance, Humor
Release Date:   February 5, 2015
Book Review: Floored (Frenched #3) by Melanie Harlow
4.5 Stars

Readers of the Frenched series will remember Erin Upton from her appearances in the previous books as Mia and Coco’s friend. The trio has a great, supportive friendship and that continues in Erin’s story, which begins when a bad day turns worse after Erin’s townhome is burglarized…while Erin is…we’ll let’s just say she’s having a little more than simply a “Calgon take me away” moment.

A romance isn’t complete without a sexy, if not cocky, hero and thus enters Officer Dwyer to the rescue, or Charlie— the teasing boy who held up Erin’s charity lemonade stand as a kid.  Charlie now operates on the right side of the law these days as a policeman, though he may not have shed all his bad boy ways. Does Erin still think Charlie’s a jerk? YES. Is that stopping her from having inappropriate thoughts about this officer of the law? NO.

This story is about two opposite people who are insanely attracted to each other, yet one doesn’t think he can do a relationships and the other is trying really hard to play it causal in order to at least maintain the friends-with-benefits one they do have. The result, of course, is that they are slipping into a real relationship whether they know it or want it.
“This didn’t seem like just friends territory. Then again, I was new to this f*ck friend thing. Maybe in addition to the main course, you got a few side dishes too, like holding hands and the occasional cuddle.”
Floored is a cute, funny, and sexy read. Erin’s first person narration is often humorous and always light-hearted. Both characters are very likable. Erin is very down to earth with a solid head on her shoulders. She rolls with the punches well. There’s plenty of cute banter between her and Charlie and quite a few steamy scenes that are smoking! I honestly don’t think I’ll look at a ballet barre and mirrors the same way again. ;-)
“‘So good I’m going to ask her what she’d like first. My hands? My tongue?’”
While the pair can’t keep their hands or tongues off each other, the drama (interesting drama, not over the top) is served up in the form of Charlie’s secrets. Erin doesn’t have a good track record with boyfriends and their undisclosed information. One came out of the closet after they broke up, another turned to the priesthood. Now Charlie is holding something back too and Erin has to figure out if it’s a deal breaker.

Despite Charlie’s past flaws, I really saw the good in him as a character. He felt just a little broken, one of those guys you wanted to see do right and succeed.  I do wish a certain meeting would have been included but overall it has a great ending, both to the story and to the series of these three girls.

If you enjoy an upbeat, super sexy read, this is certainly one to pick up!

Character Interview: “Five Questions PLUS with the Characters of Melanie Harlow’s Frenched series”

Welcome gang to the Book-Bosomed Book Blog! It’s great to have you here and give readers a chance to learn a little more about you all. Let’s get started and have some fun…

Q1. Girl Talk
Mia and Coco told their stories in Frenched, Yanked and Forked; now it’s Erin’s turn in Floored.  So Mia and Coco, why don’t you describe Erin for readers in two words.

A. “Perfectionist,” they say at the same time, laughing.
“Sweet,” adds Coco.
Mia thinks for a moment. “Thoughtful. Of all of us, Erin is the best at thinking things through and seeing the big picture. Although, sometimes I think she’s too careful.”

Q2. Behind Every Great Woman is a Sexy Man
Next question is for all three girls. Ladies, we know you all love Paris but if you could spend one couples weekend on a secluded tropical island (necessities for survival included) however your mate was only allowed to bring one item of luxury (or pleasure), what would Charlie, Nick, and Lucas each bring?

A. Coco answers right away. “Nick would bring a cast iron skillet to cook with.”
“I think Lucas would bring a guitar,” says Mia slowly. “Although a case of good wine would be a strong possibility too.”
Erin blushes. “I’ll just be honest—Charlie would probably bring his handcuffs. He knows I like them.”

Interviewer: Hmm, good food, music, and kinky fun ;-)

Q3. Let Me Tell You a Secret
Speaking of the men, Charlie, Nick, and Lucas—If the girls were to talk in their sleep after a night of really good sex, what would they each say?

A. Mia: “Oh God, I love Paris!”
Coco: “I think we got cake batter on the sheets.”
Erin: “Frisk me again, Officer. Please.”

Q4. Arresting Officer
Charlie, as a man of the law, if you happened to pull Erin over for speeding, would you…
A.) Write her a ticket for sixty-nine dollars? (Payable only to Officer Dwyer)
B.) Frisk her (she might be concealing a dangerous sex toy after all)
C.) Bend her over the car and handcuff her (she’s too dangerous in the drivers’ seat)

A.  “D. All of the above, of course.”

Interviewer: Somehow Officer Dwyer I knew you were going to say that ;)

Q5. Nobody Puts Charlie in the Corner
Erin—Charlie needs a private dance lesson—what Dirty Dancing scene would you most want to act out with him?

A. “The one in the lake! Without an audience. Definitely.”

PLUS, since Floored is Erin and Charlie’s story and we know they are a bit of opposites attract, let’s find out how compatible they are with these five rapid fire questions!

#1 Moonlight or Candlelight?
Erin: Candlelight
Charlie: Candlelight

#2 Top or Bottom?
Erin: Bottom
Charlie: Top

#3 Drive-in movie or big theater complex? (Perhaps for taking Erin to the 50 Shades movie *wink*)
Erin: Big Theater. I’d get cold in the car.
Charlie: Drive-in. I’d keep her warm!

#4 Mountains retreat or beach bungalow?
Erin: Beach bungalow! I’m not much of a camper.
Charlie: Mountain retreat! I love hiking. I’m totally taking her camping.

#5 Plane, train, or automobile?
Erin: Plane. Most efficient way to get where you want to go.
Charlie: I don’t mind flying but I love a good road trip. A train sounds like fun—someone else to do the driving in case I’m occupied with other things!

Thanks Erin, Charlie, Coco, Nick, Mia, Lucas and Melanie Harlow!!!

BOOK REVIEW
~Synopsis~
Twenty-eight year old Coco Thomas knows the recipe for disaster:

1) Agree to plan last-minute engagement blowout for spoiled Mafia princess before you realize her choice of caterer is Nick Lupo, a despicably gorgeous young chef with a hot new restaurant in town, a reality TV show victory, and a romantic past with you—one that did not end well.

2) Strike a deal with Nick in which you agree to spend a weekend with him in exchange for his services, under the strict conditions there will be no talking about the past, no second chances, and definitely no sex.

3) Violate all three conditions within 24 hours and spend two glorious days remembering what made you fall for the sexy, egotistical bastard in the first place, and why it hurt so much when he broke your heart.

Add one road trip, plenty of good scotch, and endless spoonfuls of chocolate cake batter drizzled over your body and licked off inch by oh-my-God-yes-right-there inch, then just admit it.

You’re totally FORKED.

Yanked (#1.5)

~Synopsis~

Mia Devine fell hard for Lucas Fournier after their magical week in Paris. But eight months later, the free-spirited half-French musician still hasn't made any promises about their future. And as magnifique as long-distance phone sex is, nothing compares to the real thing.

Fed up with stolen weekends and lonely nights, Mia flies to New York armed with a list of reasons why they should take the next step, but an unexpected guest in Lucas's apartment derails her plans. He’s been keeping secrets--worse, he claims he's happy with the way things are.

Without the magic of Paris, can their mismatched love survive?

Frenched (#1)

~Synopsis~

When Tucker Branch, playboy heir to Branch Bolt and Screw, screws and bolts a week before their wedding, Mia Devine wants nothing more than to crawl under her newly monogrammed sheets and plan a funeral for her dignity. But her friends convince her that bitter tastes better when it’s drowned in Bordeaux, so Mia grits her teeth and packs her bags, determined to make the best of her luxurious Paris honeymoon—alone.

She never planned on meeting Lucas Fournier.

The easygoing bartender’s scruffy good looks and less-than-sympathetic ear annoy her at first, but when she takes him up on his offer to show her around the city, she discovers that the romance of Paris isn’t just a myth.

Nor is the simultaneous O.

The last thing Mia needs is another doomed love affair, but since she only has a week, she figures she might as well enjoy la vie en O with Lucas while she can. But each day—and night—with Lucas is better than the last, and suddenly her heart is telling her this is more than a rebound fling.

Is it just the seduction of Paris…or could this be the real thing?

REVIEW/RELEASE: Monster Stepbrother by Harlow Grace

~Synopsis~
His dark obsession runs deep.
How does a girl go from being her Daddy’s precious baby doll to feeling like a filthy whore?
Easy really. When my father remarries it changes the course of my life and everything becomes...complicated.
My new stepbrother is a monster who hates me. Unapologetic, controlling and brazen he’s intent on making my life a living hell. Blackmails me into doing things I never thought I’d do. Illicit things.
Oliver King makes the rules. He f*cks me whenever he wants. How he wants. Where he wants.
My head screams this is wrong, yet I can't resist giving in to forbidden desires.
I’m his possession, his toy — his ultimate pleasure.
He’s never letting me go. I’m his dark obsession.
My dirty addiction to my stepbrother grows to a dangerous level. Am I sick to crave more from the man who has made me his slut? Or should I escape and run as far away as possible?
My name is Maya Childs and this is my story.

Dark erotic novel that contains sensitive subject matter that may make readers uncomfortable. Not appropriate for readers under 18. Contains explicit language and descriptions of sexual situations and violence.

~Book Review~
2 stars

Let me first clarify the synopsis because maybe this is where I had a different impression of the book going into it than what I actually took away from the story after reading it…

Is Oliver obsessed? Yes. But does his obsession make him devoted to her? No! Does he introduce her to a dark and erotic world? Not probably the way some are thinking (or at least not how I envisioned).

Is Maya daddy’s little girl? So she says but it’s never really shown. Does Oliver treat her like his whore? Well he seems to view most, if not all, women that way.

I had high hopes for this book. It looked really intriguing, and I was looking forward to reading it. I did read it all in one sitting, holding out hope that it would turn around or avoid certain plot and character pitfalls. Unfortunately, there were a few too many deal breakers for me to give it any higher of a rating.

To start, one of the biggest items I struggled with is that the main characters (Oliver and Maya) are either screwing or fooling around with other people for probably more than half of the book including the first 40%! I felt like a cold shower was being turned on what could have been some budding chemistry and real heat between the H and h. And sadly while I hoped that their encounters would possibly make up for some of it, they turned out incomplete and choppy, never delivering a real erotic punch that was implied. (Many of Oliver’s sexual proclivities felt thrown in rather than a specific aspect of his character.) I suppose technically there is no cheating as Oliver never makes any promises to any girl, but his bouncing around with different women (and one in particular that I didn’t understand his repeated use of) will not appeal to fans of monogamous pairings in their love stories.

As far as the characters go, they were a bit hard to relate to (secondary characters included). The bones are probably there for deep, intense characters but somehow none of them ever evolved. Oliver is a crazy jerk. I can’t think of a better way to describe him. He’s clearly got some serious issues he needs a good shrink to work out. He’s totally into slut-shaming (not cool) and repeatedly calls Maya a slut and whore. That’s one of many turn-offs that Oliver could boast. He also threatens to call up his pseudo girlfriend during sex with Maya when she won’t comply with his specific requests and frequently torments her by having loud sex in the room next to her. (I don’t know in what universe this turns a real girl on but it makes me want to puke just reading about it in multiple scenes).

Maya was intriguing in the beginning, and I thought she was going to be one of those heroines that defy stereotypes, challenging the H when he really needs it, but then she becomes weak and broken by him and looses all her spunk.

Bianca is your stereotypical bitch girlfriend. I hated this chic’s guts somehow and yet she really wasn’t a fully developed character. Her inclusion feels clichéd rather than as an engaging point of the story, and ultimately she’s a bit unresolved.

Be aware, there are very minimal moments of romance between Oliver and Maya. More “Little Bee” and so much less “Slut” would have gone a long way. There is so much confusing hot and cold flips between Oliver and Maya you’ll need a score card to keep up with what each is feeling at the moment even though both of their first person point of views are provided. At times their feelings and actions are contradictory and the time jumps in the plot certainly didn’t help that.

Honestly both characters needed some serious professional help that their “love” for each other would not have believably fixed. Since they came from affluent families I never understood why they weren’t given access to the best therapy or why it wasn’t sought out for either of them at varying times when it was obvious. There are deep seated problems of self harm, misdirected anger, commitment, and self esteem among others.  What eventually happens in the way of their “happiness” felt way too little, too late. (The mark was missed in places long before). Some reveals and plot points felt a bit unbelievable; the dark aspect redeemed too easily; the resolution rushed.

Ultimately the story was not my cup of tea (and it had nothing to do with the step-sibling taboo aspect). Enjoyment for others will depend a lot on the type of plot they enjoy in a romance (dark or not) and what they are looking for in the characters. If the items mentioned above do not bother you, then it’s one to check out. If they do, then this is one to pass on.

COVER REVEAL: War by Isabel Lucero

~Synopsis~

My father was the leader of a protection racket; a criminal group that uses violence to ensure our clients won’t be harmed or robbed, and that their businesses will remain protected. What we do isn’t legal, but it’s the way we’ve lived for many years now. Memphis Reed—my father—was formidable. He was a man people both respected and feared. He taught me everything he knew, and when he died I was left in charge. Before his death, a battle was brewing on the streets. Lies were told, deceptions were made, and people were killed. People we thought we knew changed, relationships and friendships were torn apart, and loyalties were questioned. After his death, a full on war is raging, and Roman Rios—a man we now know we can’t trust—wants to move in on our business. With me now being the leader of nine men, it’s up to me to protect them from Roman and his own crew of ruthless criminals. I’ll do whatever’s necessary to keep my business my own and protect everything my father worked for. Even if I have to go up against Xavier Delgado. Roman’s number two. A man with no heart and a black soul. A man Roman trained to be as vicious and cold-blooded as he is. A man who once upon a time I thought I was in love with. Yes, I’m a she. My name is Chevelley Reed, and all’s fair in love and war.

COVER REVEAL: Every Breath You Take by Blair Babylon

What happens when a Rock Star in Disguise meets a Billionaire in hiding?

Georgie doesn’t know who she is dating.

At a high society wedding, Georgie Johnson is introduced to Alexandre de Valentinois, a hereditary duke of nothing who flies around the world on his private planes and describes himself as “one of those despicable, idle rich men.” Yet, when pressed, he sings at the wedding in a gorgeous, clear tenor that tugs at Georgie’s soul, and miraculously, he calms her paralyzing stage fright so she can accompany him on the piano, even though she thought she had left her classical music career behind when she went into hiding.

But Alexandre has a dark side. His name is Xan Valentine, and he’s the rock star front man for Killer Valentine. He’s famous, but his paparazzi-dogged lifestyle might expose Georgie and get her killed.

~Excerpt~

Alex said, so quietly, “Play something for me.”
Her hands stretched over the keys, and she tried to push them down to play even a major chord, but as soon as a key neared the break point, just when the hammer inside the piano was poised to strike the string, something in her mind shouted Don’t! and she couldn’t press it.
Alex asked gently, “Does Flicka know you’re worse?”
“I don’t see how she would. We’ve been out of touch for a few years.”
“But she knows that you’ve got—” he paused, obviously considering whether to say the terrible words, “a problem with this.”
“She must have forgotten about it,” rather than that Flicka had decided to punish Georgie in a spectacularly cruel way.
Maybe Georgie deserved to try to face her fears, melt into an incoherent puddle on the floor, and have everyone from her childhood and current best friends laugh at her failure.
It would serve her right.
But she would never be able to walk as far as the piano in front of all those people, so Flicka couldn’t have her poetic justice.
“Anyway,” she said, “I can’t do it.”
“I can help you,” Alex said.
“And how could you do that? Hypnotize me? Doesn’t work. Psychoanalysis? There’s nothing there.”
“Of course not, but I don’t want you to play for them.” He leaned across the piano again, and his hair slid from behind his shoulder and hung, reflected in the black gloss of the piano’s lacquer. “I want you to play for me.”
Georgie stared down at her spidery hands hanging over the black and white piano keys. “I can’t.”
He walked around the piano and stood beside her, his slim hip right beside her cheek. A faint, masculine scent wafted from his clothes, a cologne, something soothing like green herbs. She was acutely aware that she could lean about six inches over and unzip his fly with her teeth.
Alex said, in a low, soft voice, “Play the middle C.”
She laid her thumb on the white key right in front of her waist and held it there, but she didn’t push down.
Alex stroked her arm from her elbow to her wrist with the back of his hand, soothing her. “Play it.”
She told her finger to push down, and she let the weight of her arm fall on her finger that was curled above the keys.
Her finger collapsed and wouldn’t press the key.
Alex shook his head, and his long hair swished over his shoulders. He turned his hand over so that his palm was on her wrist, and then he slid his hand over hers, covering her fingers on the keys with his own. Calluses on pads of his fingers were hard on the tops of her fingers.
He stepped behind her, still not moving his fingers over hers. Warmth from his body drifted out of his suit jacket that opened around them, spreading over her bare back, and his cologne filled her nose like she was walking in the fields around Tanglewood.
He leaned over her, stretching his arms on both sides of her, caging her.
His whisper brushed the skin on her neck. “I’m not forcing you to do something you don’t want to. I’m letting you have what you want most, what you crave, but you dare not admit, even to yourself.”
“I’m afraid,” Georgie admitted, her voice breathy from fear at pressing that note and from his body so close to hers.
“Everyone is, in the beginning,” he said. “It can be terrifying to have an experience so desired, so primal, that you lose yourself. You have to trust me to take you through the place that terrifies you, to keep you safe, and to hold you until you emerge on the other side.”
Georgie couldn’t seem to catch her breath or move away from him. “We’re still talking about the piano here?”
Alex chuckled.
“Just the piano,” she said, but she leaned back, almost imperceptibly, maybe an inch, so that his mouth was so near her skin that his breath was a hot circle on her bare shoulder, and the scent of champagne in his mouth rolled down her skin.
“Let me do it for you, first,” he whispered.
Georgie closed her eyes, and the weight of his finger forced hers down.
A single note, a C, rang out of the piano and jarred against her skin.

COVER REVEAL: Prick by Sabrina Paige

Shauna Kruse/Kruse Images Photography

PRICK ---Urban Dictionary

1.) penis

2.) derogatory term used to sum up the existence of a worthless a**hole.

Caulter Sterling is a prick.

A filthy-mouthed, womanizing, crude, spoiled, arrogant prick.

The tattooed, pierced, panty-melting-hot son of a celebrity.

I hate him.

He's slept his way through practically every girl at Brighton Academy.

Except for me.

I'm the good girl. The responsible girl. The 4.0, class president, studied-so-much-she-never-lost-the-big-V girl.

And in celebration of graduation and adulthood, I just made the worst decision in the history of ever.

I lost my V-card to the devil himself.

It was just one night. So what if it was mind-blowing? Hit it and quit it.

Except I just found out that my father - the Senator, the Presidential hopeful - is marrying Caulter's mother. Oh, and this summer? We're hitting the campaign trail.

One big happy family.

And I can't stop thinking about that prick.

I'm totally f**ked.

(Mature Readers)

The edges of his eyes wrinkle when he looks at me.  "There are no other girls."
"I don't believe you."
"Yes you do," he says, moving his finger up to my face.  He traces the outline of my jaw, pulls my face up toward his.  "Because you know it's true.  Since you, there's been no one else."
My heart thumps in my chest.  "But the redhead..."
"I don't know her.  She walked in and stripped off her clothes."  He leans in close and kisses me, barely brushing my lips with his, the movement light as a feather.
I push him back, unable to contain my laugh.  "Women don't just walk in a room and take off their clothes."
"They do for me."
"That's ridiculous."
"I'm a celebrity," he says.  "It's not the first time."
"And it won't be the last, either."  I'm irritated with him again.  I'm irritated with the idea that women walk into a room and throw themselves at him.  I'm irritated with the fact that the insistent throbbing between my legs is making me stupid.  It's making me want to lose my mind and beg him to bury his cock inside me.
"I like this jealous streak," he says.  "It's adorable."
"I'm not jealous," I insist, lying, to him or myself, I'm not sure which.  "I'm making sure that you're not riddled with STDs."
"Jealous," he says, his mouth close to mine.  He licks my lower lip with the tip of his tongue, and I inhale sharply, my thoughts clouded by lust.
"You're the jealous one.  You were jealous when you saw me outside with Chase."
He grabs a handful of hair at the base of my neck and pulls me to him, covering my mouth with his.  A twinge of pain shoots through me as he presses his mouth hard against my mouth, his tongue warring with mine.  My body is on fire, and I long for him to run his hands over my skin.  I long to feel him inside me.
When he finally pulls away, he keeps a firm grasp on my hair, holding my head steady so I can't help but look at him.  "You're damn right I was jealous," he says.  "Don't even think about talking to him again."
"Says the guy who had a naked girl in the library.  That's ironic."
"I didn't touch her.  I threw her out," he says.  "She was repulsive."
"She was hot.  And you could have touched her," I say.  "You and I aren't anything."
"That lacrosse player doesn't lay a finger on you," he says.  "You belong to me."
"What the hell is this, Caulter?" I ask.  "You're the one who says you're just having a little fun.  You're nobody's happy ever after, remember?"
He grips my hair harder, pulls me against him, his hardness pressing into my thigh.  "And you're not some frail little princess who needs swept off her feet," he says, running his hand up the side of my leg and cupping my ass, the tips of his fingers touching my pussy lips.  I'm wet, practically dripping, and when he realizes it, he pulls me against him, crushing my mouth with his again.
"Then what am I?" I ask, when I come up for air.
"You're the most irritating girl I've ever met," he says, his grip still tight on my hair.  He covers my breast with his hand, warm through the fabric of the dress, and my nipples harden immediately to his touch.

Sabrina Paige writes about smart, sexy women and the hot alpha males who love them. Outlaw bikers, cowboys, and military men make her
