~Book Review of Lucky by J.M. Darhower~

Let me start off by saying that I knew nothing of Lucky prior to receiving the information
about the One compilation and the ARC
of Lucky from author J.M. Darhower. I
never go into books blind because that’s just not my style, but this was simply
a short story so I opened it up knowing nothing more than the theme was
one-night stands.
So in this short story, Maddalena
Bazzoli is a mob man’s daughter looking to get lucky for one
night, her last night of freedom before entering an arranged marriage. She gets more than “lucky” and that’s all I’m
going to say.
What I will say is that this is not my first time
reading a J.M. Darhower story. In fact Monster in His Eyes is one of my favorite books. And in just these short pages I could already
feel that same style and by the time I reached the end, I was ready to go back
and read it again, just to pick up on all the things that suddenly had new
meanings than they did the first time around.
“Tomorrow you might feel differently.”
I don’t think I’ve had a read like that since Monster so knowing that this is the
prequel to an new upcoming stand-alone romantic suspense entitled Twenty to Life, well I can’t wait to
read more! The groundwork is certainly there for another intriguing “hero” and
a very complicated relationship.
